Tor Sapienza in Arte è nato nel 2002 come festival internazionale, ideato e diretto da Carlo Gori, artista multidisciplinare, per l'Associazione Culturale Michele Testa - Tor Sapienza.
Volevamo stimolare artisti di tutti i generi, e da tutto il mondo, a mettere in gioco se stessi e la loro arte con gli abitanti di Tor Sapienza, un quartiere periferico di Roma, convinti che l'esperienza potesse essere utile vicendevolmente e per il bene dell'arte stessa.
Il Festival si è poi subito evoluto in un lavoro quotidiano per trasformare Tor Sapienza in un "Quartiere d'Arte", che fiorisse con il motore dell'arte in ogni aspetto (sociale, culturale, ambientale, estetico, urbanistico, socioeconomico... ), costruendo un'identità di cui andare fieri.
Il progetto Tor Sapienza "Quartiere d'Arte" è vincitore nel 2005 del concorso "Idee in Comune" del Comune di Roma per la qualità della vita della città.

The international festival Tor Sapienza in Arte was created in 2002 by, and under the direction of, multimedia artist Carlo Gori for the Associazione Culturale Michele Testa - Tor Sapienza.
Our aim was to stimulate all kinds of artists from all over the world into action trough their art and participation, working together with the inhabitants of Tor Sapienza, a suburban district of Rome. We believe this experience to be mutually beneficial and useful, for the good of the same art.
The festival immediately entailed daily commitment necessary to turn Tor Sapienza into an “Art District”, that could flourish with the power of art in all aspects (social, cultural, environmental, aesthetical, economic and urban planning) and thus finding an identity to be proud of.
In 2005 the project Tor Sapienza “Quartiere d’Arte” (Tor Sapienza "Art District") won the competition "Idee in Comune", for quality of life in the city of Rome.
